Happy 1st Birthday

Today is Buffalo Stance's 1st birthday!
I can't believe it's only been a year. From the features, to the followers, to the constant inspiration I get from the blog community, I'm astounded by how far it's come in such a short time. Thanks!

With Halloween approaching I decided to include a picture of last year's costume. I was inspired by Karin Dreijer Andersson of the band Fever Ray. I did the makeup myself and was delighted with the result. What are you planning on dressing up as this Halloween? I have a few ideas but can't seem to make up my mind.....

poor little bitch kids

And this was the result of my ridiculous birthday party Saturday night.  I planned it with the Factory theme in mind.  My boyfriend managed to round up two projectors which allowed us to give life to the party through image.  We showed Ciao Manhattan Edie Sedgwick's final film before death,  Beyond the Valley of the Dolls, and a compilation of Keneth Anger films.  The next morning I awoke to nearly 25 empty champagne bottles.  It was a lovely way to celebrate another year passing.

preview

Just a preview of my birthday party on Saturday night.  More images to follow.
Thanks Kirsten & Kayta for  a few of these pictures.

(I apologize for the quality of some of these photos as they we're taken on a camera phone- more to follow shortly.)

left bank birthday

(twelve by twelve studded blazer, forever 21 dress, forever 21 belt, UO tights, H&M hat & bag)

For my birthday last night, my lovely boyfriend surprised me with a gorgeous bouquet of flowers and a delicious dinner at my favorite restaurant.  This was the outfit I wore to work which ended up transitioning into my dinner attire.  We caught this beautiful sunset right before leaving the house.  It really enhances the brightness of the blazer.
As you can see I'm really enjoying studs lately.  I found these flats at Marshall's (go figure) and the blazer I picked up at Forever 21.  My big blowout is scheduled for Saturday - expect more pictures of wild antics to follow.

clinic vs. exam

Shoes, shoes, shoes! Back, back, back, and forth.  The Clinic vs. Exam- I've been lusting after the clinic for months, only to have it's counterpart revealed last week.  Now I'm stuck- whatever shall I choose?
I look to you dear readers for a PUSH in the right direction.
With my birthday on it's way I suppose it's only fair I treat myself to a little JC love.....

(And only to complicate matters more I'll include the Mary Rock's wedge.  It's just a bit more springy, and ahhh look at the open toe. Decisions, decisions, painful decisions....)

Featured: Rocker Repo- Maxi Skirts

A big thanks to Maggie over at Rocker Repro.  She did a short feature on maxi dresses and included my look as inspiration.  You can check out the article in full here.

On a side note tomorrow is my birthday and I have a full week ahead.  Thursday Xiu Xiu plays with Tune-Yards.  Friday Jessa and I dj the SLEIGH BELLS show at Mohawk Place, and SATURDAY is my big birthday blowout.  I've themed the event after Warhol's screen tests and films (Poor Little Rich Kids).  I've included the flier I designed below.  My dear friend Vince is coming to town, and with him comes festivities sure to be packed with crazy antics.  I can't wait to have all the friends together, dancing, drinking, and laughing. It's not so bad to grow older....

Lovely Lulee

My dear friend Lulu celebrated her birthday last night with a charming dinner party (thanks to Nan & Lar for the tasty treats, and open bar).  It was filled with laughter, singing, crowns, and jokes. I'm so lucky to have such a wonderful set of friends. Check out her blog here: http://threecheersforyolandavega.blogspot.com/

It's been a wild weekend with three holiday parties. I'm looking forward to a good night rest, and plenty of comfort foods.  This time of year is defiantly the most fun, but stressful. Between all of the holiday parties, visiting family, and planning a New Years trip (hopefully to either New Orleans, or San Fran) I'm feel a bit overwhelmed, but happy to be busy. I'm hoping to shoot some downtown outfits post this week, weather providing.  Hope everyone had a lovely weekend, and again HAPPY BIRTHDAY LULEE!
