25 hours in Buffalo

A new and very talented friend and photographer Ysa Perez graced us with her presence two weekend's past.  Check out her portfolio here.  We spent Saturday grunging around Allentown during the annual summer art festival.  Several mimosas later we decided to do a little impromptu photo shoot. Shortly after we all gathered round to watch Vampiros Lesbos , paint our nails, and curl hairs in anticipation of the  MSTRKRFT show.  My friend Kayta had the hookup and nabbed us free bottle service and a VIP booth.  New friends are always welcome in the loft. Can't wait to reconnect in NYC. 

A Decadent Dinner Affair

My lovely dj partner and friend Jessa threw a delicious dinner party last Friday night.  The evening was filled with friends, wine, amazing food, board games, pool, and ping pong.  Jessa and her sister Julia really outdid themselves and put together a feast fit for a royal court.  The menu consisted of steamed muscles with fennel and capers, grilled Moroccan shrimp screwers, grilled zucchini stuffed with roasted red peppers and goat cheese, home made kettle chips, pizzettas, plus various spreads and dips.  I'm lucky to be surrounded by wonderful friends who enjoy the simple things in life, and have exquisite taste in cuisine.

And this was the result of my ridiculous birthday party Saturday night.  I planned it with the Factory theme in mind.  My boyfriend managed to round up two projectors which allowed us to give life to the party through image.  We showed Ciao Manhattan Edie Sedgwick's final film before death,  Beyond the Valley of the Dolls, and a compilation of Keneth Anger films.  The next morning I awoke to nearly 25 empty champagne bottles.  It was a lovely way to celebrate another year passing.

On a side note tomorrow is my birthday and I have a full week ahead.  Thursday Xiu Xiu plays with Tune-Yards.  Friday Jessa and I dj the SLEIGH BELLS show at Mohawk Place, and SATURDAY is my big birthday blowout.  I've themed the event after Warhol's screen tests and films (Poor Little Rich Kids).  I've included the flier I designed below.  My dear friend Vince is coming to town, and with him comes festivities sure to be packed with crazy antics.  I can't wait to have all the friends together, dancing, drinking, and laughing. It's not so bad to grow older....

Ladies Night

 

Not long ago ladies night ensued and I can assure you it was one filled with laughter, wine, and spontaneous dance sessions.  With 10 degree days surrounding us sometimes theres nothing better than inviting the girls over, comfy clothes, gossip, and sips (or gulps) of Spanish varietals. We're a wonderful pack of wolves shimmying to the Haus of Gaga while keeping up the creative tradition in Buffalo.

My dear friend Lulu celebrated her birthday last night with a charming dinner party (thanks to Nan & Lar for the tasty treats, and open bar).  It was filled with laughter, singing, crowns, and jokes. It's been a wild weekend with three holiday parties. I'm looking forward to a good night rest, and plenty of comfort foods.  This time of year is defiantly the most fun, but stressful. Between all of the holiday parties, visiting family, and planning a New Years trip (hopefully to either New Orleans, or San Fran) I'm feel a bit overwhelmed, but happy to be busy. I'm hoping to shoot some downtown outfits post this week, weather providing.  Hope everyone had a lovely weekend, and again HAPPY BIRTHDAY LULEE!

A House Cooling

My best friends Brandon & Patrick decided to throw a "house cooling" party this weekend. They've lived in this great apartment for several years, but recently decided to move into a new building on the west side. We've had our fair share of laughs, cries, and dance extravaganzas here, so it was only fitting they move on with one 

final blowout! My legs are still stinging from 5am dance routines. We'll all miss that apartment.

Halloween

Recovering from an insane weekend of parties & ghoulish behavior. It hurts to be back at work this early Monday morning.

My costume came out perfectly. The make up worked out well, and endured the entire evening. Even through sweat, hugs, and late night pizza consumption. My best friends went as CMYK (the four colors used in most color printers, usually in two ink cartridges, one of black ink and the other containing cyan, magenta, and yellow ) and my boyfriend & I created a dunny head out of chicken wire and paper mache. A few people confused him for Donnie Darko but either way it was the perfect creepy compliment to my skeleton theme.

I found this dress at F21 as part of their Circus themed lined. The tights I found at a costume shop online.
