wine country
(high waisted jean f21, nine west wedge, vintage leather belt, vintage 70's hat, h&m scarf, forever 21 lace blouse)
After working the entire Labor day weekend, I finally got a day off! Craig and I decided to take advantage of the break and travel to Niagara on the Lake, a quaint little Canadian town where the Niagara River meets Lake Ontario. We packed a picnic, roamed the streets, and tasted delicious wines from a variety of vineyards. One place we loved in particular was the uber modern winery Stratus (pictured above).
I went for a mild 70's vibe with this outfit. I'm still in love with this vintage hat I found a few week's past.
The weather has turned quite drastically since the beginning of September - farewell to summer dresses and shorts. I'll be pulling out the layers again as soon as I re-organize my closet.

urban cowboy
(vintage 70's blouse, vintage cowboy boots, vintage belt, forever 21 leather shorts, my fave fringed bag)
I'm having a difficult time transitioning my wardrobe from summer to fall. My favorite fashion season has always been autumn. Autumn brings variety and allows for premium layering - which is something I very much enjoy.
It's been insanely warm here the past week, with highs in the 90's! I'm pretty much over dressing for the warm weather, which is why I braved the heat dressed in black, boots, and long sleeves. On my only day off this week (gah kill me!) I picked up this leather belt, I doubt it's vintage but it compliments my urban cowboy theme (one I cannot seem to kick since the purchase of 4 pairs of vintage cowboy boots!).

calling jodie
( vintage hat, vintage liz claiborne belt, h&m fringe bag, vintage fringed clogs, vintage blouse, f21 shorts)
This outfit screams 70's love. On my day off I visited the local thrift store and made out like a bandit. I fell in love with this gorgeous felt hat, especially the flower detail. The clogs are basically the score of a lifetime - why anyone would NOT want them in their wardrobe is beyond me...... needless to say, I'm more than thrilled to be able to give them a home in MY closet!
I realized after the shoot that this outfit bears a striking resemblance to that worn by Jodie Foster's character in Taxi Driver (see below for the comparison). I didn't really have her in mind when I styled the look but perhaps it emerged subconsciously. Either way, I am happy with the end result.
